PLAYER RATINGS | Rangers 2-2 PSV | OneFootball

A strong second-half performance ensured PSV will go back to Eindhoven for the second leg of the Champions League play-off with Rangers on level terms.

Here’s how we think each of the Dutch side’s players performed…

Walter Benitez, 4 – Did make one great save in the first half but made an enormous error for Rangers’ second goal – after getting away with a fumble a few minutes earlier – that could still prove costly.

Jordan Teze, 8 – Was moved from centre-back to right-back for the match and was fantastic. He went up against one of Rangers’ most dangerous players in Ryan Kent and handled him extremely well, and he was a threat going forward too.

Andre Ramalho, 6 – Looked sharp in his first start of the season, holding his own in a physical battle with Antonio Colak, although he did have to bailed out by Obispo a few times.

Armando Obispo, 7 – Gave the ball away which led to the free-kick that Rangers scored from, but was very good asides from that, making some important interventions and scoring with an excellent header.

Phillip Max, 5 – Didn’t do a huge amount right defensively but was fairly poor going forward; he missed a big chance and his final ball wasn’t great.

Ibrahim Sangare, 8 – Showed exactly why so many big clubs were interested in him this summer, scoring a goal, winning the ball nine times, getting his team out of trouble and single-handedly moving them forward multiple times.

Erick Gutierrez, 6 – Made one fantastic pass to put Max through on goal but couldn’t do much too much else.

Joey Veerman, 6 – Made a real impact when he was involved but wasn’t involved all that often playing in a more attacking role, having fewer touches than all but one PSV player. Given his quality on the ball, you can’t help but think he should be used in a position when he gets it as much as possible.

Ismael Saibari, 6 – Missed three relatively big chances but did very well to get them in the first place, and looked a real threat in the second half after a poor first 45 minutes.

Luuk de Jong, 6 –

Cody Gakpo, 7 –

Jarrad Branthwaite, 6 – Came on with 10 minutes to go to shore things up at the back and did his job, making a few good clearances.
