Marcus Thuram was the man of the match in Inter’s win over Lazio, whilst Pedro and Mario Gila had miserable evenings in the second Supercoppa Italia semi-final.
Sommer – 6.5 – The Swiss shot stopper had little to do in the match, facing no shots on target throughout the match. His distribution was fairly strong, keeping focused throughout.
Bastoni – 7 – A strong evening for the Italian centre back, who completed 69 passes across his 67 minutes on the pitch, playing an active role in the team’s build-up play. He won both duels he participated in and looked comfortable defensively (67’ De Vrij – 6).
Acerbi – 6.5 – Put on a quiet shift in the centre of the Nerazzurri defence.
Pavard – 7 – A brick wall at the back, working hard to ensure Lazio never really had a sniff of goal.
Dimarco – 8 – Instrumental to Marcus Thuram’s opening goal with his quick passing, clever movement and beautiful final touch to lay off the ball.
Mkhitaryan – 7 – Commanding midfield performance from the Armenian veteran.
Calhanoglu – 7.5 – A driving force behind Inter’s victory, being central in build-up play whilst also offering valuable defensive contributions. Very clean penalty which never looked in doubt (81’ Asllani – 6).
Barella – 8 – Another impressive outing from the Italian, who shined both offensively and defensively, helping dictate the flow of play (67’ Frattesi – 7 – nice goal to close out proceedings).
Darmian – 6.5 – Played a role in Thuram’s opening goal but was otherwise fairly quiet.
Lautaro – 7.5 – Deserved to be on the scoresheet for his impressive work across his 67 minutes on the pitch (74’ Arnautovic – 5.5).
Thuram – 8.5 – The Frenchman continues proving himself to be the star signing of the summer window, acting as a beating heart of the Nerazzurri’s forward moves (74’ Sanchez – 5.5).
Coach: Inzaghi – 8 – A statement victory from Inter, who flexed their muscles as they cruised to victory over a confused Lazio.
Provedel – 6.5 – Hard to blame the Lazio goalkeeper for any of the three goals, with his defence really letting him down.
Lazzari – 6 – Tried to show something when going forward, but failed to keep up with his defensive duties (83’ Hysaj – N/A).
Gila – 4.5 – Not an evening to remember for the Spaniard, who was left bloodied as he tried to survive the Nerazzurri onslaught.
Romagnoli – 5.5 – The 29-year-old failed to whip his defence into shape and didn’t match up to par individually.
Marusic – 5 – Shocking defending for Thuram’s opener, allowing the Frenchman to dart to the ball as he stood completely still (66’ Pellegrini – 6).
Guendouzi – 6 – Put in some good defensive work but only managed to complete eight passes, hardly contributing to any offensive play (51’ Luis Alberto – 5.5).
Rovella – 5 – Overwhelmed by the Inter midfielders, unable to show any of his qualities (51’ Cataldi – 6).
Vecino – 5.5 – The 32-year-old should’ve done better, considering his experience, as he allowed the midfield department to crumble around him.
Felipe Anderson – 7 – One of the few bright spots for the Biancocelesti, the Brazilian winger created a few chances and came the closest to finding the back of the net for Lazio.
Immobile – 6 – Almost no impact on play across the 90 minutes but did work hard despite the generally disappointing performance.
Pedro – 5 – Gave away the penalty for Inter’s second goal and contributed nothing moving forward.
Coach: Sarri – 5 – Whatever his plan was for the Supercoppa Italiana semi-final, it didn’t work. His side looked thoroughly outclassed throughout the match and had no responses for any of Inter’s moves.
