Manchester United made hard work of it but got across the line in the end to beat Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Burnley had the ball inside the net after 20 minutes, but the referee disallowed the goal because it was offside.

Then Mason Greenwood opened the scoring for the Reds, however, the lead didn’t last very long as Tarkowski beat Harry Maguire to a goal scoring header.

Greenwood scored again and Edinson Cavani bagged in stoppage time as United won 3-1.

We are now eight points behind Man City in the Premier League.

Dean Henderson – 4

Came off his line to punch air during a moment of madness at the beginning, but thankfully Fulham’s goal was disallowed. Unlucky for Burnley’s equaliser but kept flapping at balls.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 5

Booked in the first half and quiet in attack.

Harry Maguire – 4

Got bullied for Burnley’s equaliser. Needs to command his territory more.

Victor Lindelof – 5

It’s a concern when you notice a team like Burnley pinpointing a weakness in our defence. Burnley did their best to aim set-pieces at Lindelof, and the Swede wasn’t very convincing at the back.

Luke Shaw – 6

Nowhere near his best, but grew into the game more after half-time. Sent a beautiful cross in for Fernandes before the hour mark and was unlucky not be rewarded with another assist for his tally the season.

Fred – 4

Too predictable in possession. Replaced by Cavani at half-time.

Scott McTominay – 5

The two sitting players in the middle failed to set the tempo. McTominay loosened up when his partner in crime, Fred, was replaced and he was involved in some brilliant passing exchanges. Good chance on goal at the end.

Bruno Fernandes – 5

Wasteful.

Paul Pogba – 6

Roy Keane questioned his influence on the team before the match. Although he didn’t do anything wrong, Pogba needs to be doing more. Didn’t properly release himself in midfield until there was 15 minutes left on the clock.

Mason Greenwood – 8

Consistency featuring on the scoresheet again with two goals today. His second took a lucky deflection past the goalkeeper but we’ll take it.

Marcus Rashford – 7

Assisted United’s opening goal and played with a spring in his step.

Subs:

Edinson Cavani – 7

Came on and gave us something we lacked. He’s a real presence up front and you can see the opposition looking over their shoulder whenever he’s on the pitch. Got his goal at the end.

Donny van de Beek – Only played 10 minutes but registered an assist.
