Yet again, another familiar storyline repeats itself for Borussia Dortmund. In the little Revierderby, facing a last-place Bochum, BVB lost 2-nil in a match that was never even close to Black-and-Yellows' control. At the same time, a depleted and struggling Bochum side managed to get the better of this life-or-death matchup.
The first half began with Bochum demonstrating a lot of intensity and high press, while Dortmund had a hard time evading it. At some point, BVB managed to balance things out, creating a few good chances that could have changed the course of the game. However, individual mistakes hurt Dortmund once again, as the homeowners quickly found themselves in a 2-nil lead.
Opposingly to the first half, only one team came back from halftime, and that team was not Borussia Dortmund. The Black-and-Yellows could not find any solution to try to match Bochum's high intensity, as the Die Blauen completely took control of the game's rhythm. While BVB attacked without any sort of partner or strategy, the result could have been way worse if it wasn't for Kobel and some wasted chances by Bochum. An unfair result for the side that played better. Here are the player ratings from a Dortmund buzz-killing 2-nil loss to Bochum:
