Our ratings as Les Bleus secure their place in next year’s World Cup with an emphatic win at the Parc des Princes.

Hugo Lloris, 5 – Saved three very tame efforts on goal. Very little to report against a side lacking attacking threat.

Jules Koundé, 6 – More impressive for his forward vision than his defensive duties. Some very attractive through balls played down the left wing to Coman to begin dangerous attacks.

Dayot Upemacano, 4 – Looked lacking in confidence at times in the back three, lacking accuracy in his passing and efficiency in his tackles. Ultimately, unimportant against this Kazakhstan side who threatened little.

Lucas Hernandez, 5 – Also had very little on his plate as a centre-back in this game. One minor mistake of note: a failed roulette in his own penalty area leading to a temporary loss of possession.

Kingsley Coman, 8 – Very strong performance on his first appearance after missing the Nations League. Consistently dangerous down the right wing through his relentless pace and dribbling, as well as continuous high-quality crosses, including the one which created Mbappé’s third goal.

Ngolo Kanté, 6 – Quiet game with a number of neat forward passes, but nothing spectacular from Kanté upon his return, having been out since the end of the Euros.

Adrien Rabiot, 6 – Also a quiet game from the second of the central midfield duo. However, his header to score the sixth goal was impressive, beating Pokatilov from close range.

Théo Hernandez, 7 – Slightly outclassed by his fellow wing-back but still an impressive performance nonetheless. Two nearly identical assists from the left-wing to Mbappé and Benzema respectively contributed to the French dominance tonight.

Antoine Griezmann, 7 – A very average first-half performance from Griezmann, whose highlight was the rabona cross to Benzema. Like his compatriot, also warmed up in the second half, delivering a nice corner to Rabiot for the sixth goal of the game. Finished off with a decent penalty.

Karim Benzema, 8 – Had a very quiet first half despite contributing well to the first goal in finding Théo Hernandez. Much like his performances in the Nations League, he warmed up after half time, going on to score two and assist one. The linkup with Mbappé for his second goal was particularly attractive.

Kylian Mbappé, 9 – Very impressive display from the Parisien at his home ground. His impeccable finishing, which was lacking from his displays in the Nations League, gifted France with three goals within half an hour. Linked up with Benzema beautifully for an assist. Topped it off with a fourth neat finish before coming off in the 87th minute.

Substitutes:

Moussa Diaby, 6 – Demonstrated his dangerous pace in his 20-minute cameo, contributing to the relentless French attack in the later stages of the game. Provided Mbappé with one assist, but ought to have scored too, his own 71st-minute goal being disallowed for offside.

Aurélien Tchouaméni, 5

Benjamin Pavard, 5

Clément Lenglet, 5

Wissam Ben Yedder, 5
