Inter overcame Fiorentina in the Round of last 16 Coppa Italia match away in Florence at the Stadio Artemio Franchi to set up a derby against AC Milan in the quarterfinals after goals from Arturo Vidal and Romelu Lukaku.

Inter took the lead towards the end of the first half when Arturo Vidal converted from the spot to open his account for the Nerazzurri. Only 10 more goals left for the Chilean to keep his midweek promise to an Inter fan on social media.

Inter should have doubled their lead in the second half when Lautaro Martinez managed to miss the target when completely free with Terracciano in front of the Fiorentina goal.

Ex-Nerazzurri Primavera player does what he always does against Inter, scores that is to tie things up. Which is how things ended until the last minute of extra time when Lukaku headed home a brilliant Barella cross.

Samir Handanovic – 6,5: No keeper in the world would have saved Kouame´s shot. Did what he needed to do without much fuss. Step forward to recent games.

Milan Skriniar – 6,5: Overall good performance by the Slovakian who came off in 61st minute as a precaution as he was booked. Needs to be more composed.

Andrea Ranocchia – 7: The ideal squad player in that he never complains about playing time and always ready when called upon. Solid and faultless performance.

Aleksandar Kolarov – 5,5: Isn’t a central defender, a fact evident to everyone on this planet except to the Inter coach. Another goal conceded due to his fumbling.

Ashley Young – 6: Put in a decent effort, solid defensively, not much offensively. Brought off in the 69th minute as is the tradition for wing-backs at Inter.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5: OK in the first half but his lack of quality showed in the 2nd half, when assisting Kouame for the equalizer together with Kolarov.

Christian Eriksen – 6,5: Experiment as a regista looked good, especially in the first half. Disappeared in the second but got back into it when Barella and Brozo came on.

Arturo Vidal – 6,5: His best performance in an Inter shirt which says nothing given performances up to now but this was an overall good match by Vidal.

Ivan Perisic – 6,5: Probably his best performance in the wing-back role to the left. Overloaded the left flank, decent crosses and solid defensively.

Lautaro Martinez – 5: Came off in the 69th minute. Missed yet another sitter where it was harder to miss only for Fiorentina to go and equalize moments after.

Alexis Sanchez – 5,5: Performance wise he deserved a higher rating but you cannot miss this many sitters as a striker no matter how well you build play.

Stefan de Vrij – 6.5: Returning to being the most elegant and dependable central defender in Italy. Played out of his preferred position but it didn’t show.

Romelu Lukaku – 6: Came on in 69th minute and was anonymous until he missed a sitter only to turn around and bury a Barella cross gifting Inter the win.

Achraf Hakimi – 6,5: A shot of energy like a doppio Marocchino. Has improved defensively and is slowly working towards being a complete wing-back.

Nicolo Barella – 7: Inter’s energizer bunny who leads by example in every possible way. Plays with a maturity far beyond his years, phenomenal assist. Man of the match despite coming on in the 81st minute which says it all regarding his class.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6: Brought on in the first period of extra time for an exhausted Vidal and linked up very well with Eriksen and Barella in midfield.

Antonio Conte – 6,5: His experiment with Eriksen worked out well, not perfect but something to build on. Made the right subs when needed to.

Davide Massa – 7: Got every single major decision right using the VAR when needed to in order to get decisions right. Consistent throughout the match.

Inter – 6,5: Mentally a very important match where Inter could have thrown another win but showed strength to return back to Milan with the win.
