PLAYER RATINGS | Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg

Article image:PLAYER RATINGS | Bayern Munich 2-0 Wolfsburg

Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga with a dominating performance against Wolfsburg. Jamal Musiala opened the scoring with a superb goal from outside the area before Thomas Müller doubled Bayern’s lead. Niko Kovac’s Wolfsburg struggled to impose themselves on the game, Koen Casteels kept the score down with an excellent goalkeeper display.

Manuel Neuer, 6 – The German untested in Bayern Munich’s goal, showcased his sweeper skills, running 50 metres out of his area to clear a loose ball ahead of Patrick Wimmer.

Benjamin Pavard, 6 – Convincing start to the campaign for the Frenchman. Sat deep to allow Alphonso Davies on the opposite flank to go forward. Not as influential as last weekend. Most touches.

Dayot Upamecano, 8 – One of the Frenchman’s better games in a Bayern Munich top. Solid, strong in the air and excellent at progressing the ball out of defence. Strong performance.

Lucas Hernandez, 6 – Much quieter than his defensive partner, but did his job.

Alphonso Davies, 8 – A constant threat down Bayern Munich’s left-flank, exploiting the space left by Jamal Musiala, who drifted inside.

Joshua Kimmich, 7 –

Marcel Sabitzer, 6 – The Austrian has performed well in the absence of Leon Goretzka.

Thomas Müller, 7 – Proved a threat and on the scoresheet, typical Müller goal. New position this season for 32-year-old, but impressing nonetheless.

Jamal Musiala, 10 – Another MOTM performance from the young German. Simply unplayable this afternoon. Played a role in Sadio Mané’s offside goal before opening the scoring, evading the press of two Wolfsburg players before finding the corner of Koen Casteel’s goal. Phenomenal.

Serge Gnabry, 6 – A rather quiet performance, substituted at HT.

Sadio Mané, 7 – Capped off an excellently worked goal, but drifted offside in the build-up. Just his second Bundesliga game, but Mané is settling into this Bayern side with relative ease.

Others: Leroy Sané (6), Ryan Gravenberch (-), Mathys Tel (-)

Wolfsburg – 0

Koen Casteels, 7 – Several good saves, in particular to deny Leroy Sané’s deflected shot midway through the second-half. Wolfsburg would have conceded more was it not for the Belgian.

Ridle Baku, 5 – Struggled to deal with an attacking Davies.

Sebastiaan Bornauw, 6 – Struggled with the movement of Mané & Co.

Maxence Lacroix, 6 – Not the Frenchman’s best performance.

Micky van de Ven, 7 – One of Wolfsburg’s better players this afternoon.

Joshua Guilavogui, 6 – Wolfsburg have missed a player of the Frenchman’s profile. Nothing flashy, but sat in front of the defence as a No. 6.

Max Arnold, 5 – Few touches on the ball and poor defensively.

Mattias Svanberg, 5 –

Patrick Wimmer, 5 –

Omar Marmoush, 5 –

Lucas Nmecha, 6 – Pressed the Bayern defence but struggled to impose himself on the game.
