Centre-back Nat Phillips is having some sort of a season.

Phillips has recently been given an opportunity because of injuries to Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip.

Phillips has made 16 appearances for the Reds this season. The 24-year-old is averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.10 across the 2020-21 campaign.

As a result of Phillips’ performances this season, some Liverpool supporters have taken to Twitter to praise the centre-back.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It will be interesting to see if Phillips still has a future at Liverpool once the likes of Van Dijk, Gomez and Matip return from their respective injuries.

Phillips is not a better footballer than the aforementioned players, which is why he was not given an opportunity until they all became injured.

Once Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has a full squad to pick from again, we don’t see Phillips getting much of an opportunity.

As Phillips has now shown that he is capable of playing in the Premier League, we would not be surprised if the centre-back received a few offers come the summer.

Phillips would be wise to move to another Premier League club, as he will get more opportunity.
