Play-offs: Saint-Etienne to battle aspirational Auxerre | OneFootball

AS Saint-Etienne - France's co-most successful club - and Aj Auxerre will do battle in the Ligue 1 Uber Eats Play-offs to win the right to a place among France's top club - check out the key information and dates right here.

At the end of the last round of the league season, it's time for the play-offs. The tie will be played in a two-legged format, pitting Ligue 1 Uber Eats's 18th-placed team AS Saint-Etienne against Ligue 2 BKT play-offs winners AJ Auxerre.

The first leg will be played at AJA's home ground the Stade de l'Abbé Deschamps and the second leg at ASSE's Stade Geoffroy Guichard. The winner of the first leg moves up to Ligue 1 Uber Eats the following season, while the loser moves up to Ligue 2 BKT.

The rules in case of a tie in the play-offs:

1. If both teams have scored the same number of goals in both games, the team with more away goals wins.

2. If this procedure does not result in a decision, i.e. if both teams have scored the same number of goals at home and the same number of goals away, the return leg shall be extended by two periods of 15 minutes each. The winning team shall be the one that scores the most goals in this extra period.

3. If both teams score the same number of goals during extra time, the away goals count double (i.e. the visiting team qualifies).

4. If no goals are scored during extra time, a penalty shoot-out determines which team wins.
