Leicester City are in advanced talks with Harvey Barnes to offer him a new contract at the club in order to beat back the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United who are interested in him.

Barnes is having an excellent season for the Foxes as they look to qualify for the Champions League places after just falling short last year.

Indeed, they’ll naturally want to keep their best players in order to build on this campaign and, according to The Mirror, they are at an advanced stage with contract negotiations with the player.

The report goes on to explain that both Liverpool and Manchester United hold a keen interest in the player with them watching him play multiple times and evidently liking what they are seeing.

Leicester appear aware of that, though, so they must be eager to try and get this contract sorted.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Barnes is a very talented footballer and certainly one you could see doing a fine job in a Liverpool shirt if he ended up arriving at Anfield.

However, Leicester could offer him Champions League football next season and with a new contract looking likely, it appears as though the Reds might not get him just yet at the very least.
