Eight goals have been nominated for the first Premier League Goal of the Month award of 2023.

And there are some stunners included.

The Premier League have also revealed the five nominees for January’s Manager of the Month award.

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta gets the nod after the league leaders took seven points from a possible nine in January.

Steve Cooper is also on the list after his Nottingham Forest side climbed the table thanks to a four-match unbeaten run to kick off 2023.

Brighton scored nine goals in January, picking up big wins against Everton and Liverpool to earn Roberto De Zerbi a nomination.

Unai Emery continued his good start at Aston Villa this month with three wins from four matches.

And Thomas Frank is on the shortlist for the second successive month after Brentford went unbeaten in their matches in January.


Earlier on Thursday, the nominees were also revealed for the January Player of the Month.

Seven players have been shortlisted for the award, and fans can vote for the winner on the official EA Sports website.

Newcastle United went the entire month without conceding a Premier League goal, earning defender Dan Burn a well deserved nomination.

Brennan Johnson has also earned a nomination after scoring two goals and assisting two others for Nottingham Forest in January.

No player has had as many Premier League goal involvements in January than Riyad Mahrez, who bagged three goals and also chipped in with two assists for Manchester City.

Solly March bagged three goals for Brighton this month, including a brace in their 3-0 victory over Liverpool.

Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford is one of the most in-form players on the planet at the moment and is looking win the Player of the Month award for the second time this season.

Brentford conceded just one Premier League goal in January, thanks largely to the heroics of their goalkeeper David Raya.

And last but not least, Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka is in the running after registering an assist in the north London derby and scoring a super goal against Manchester United.
