We may have only had five Premier League fixtures this weekend, but that doesnât mean we arenât going to hand out some awards.
Here we go.
Champions Manchester City were not at their best in the first half of the season, and the absence of their talisman Kevin De Bruyne due to injury was a big reason why.
On Saturday, De Bruyne came off the bench in the 69th minute with City trailing at Newcastle, and quickly showed exactly what theyâd been missing.
It was the Belgian supremoâs inch-perfect, trademark sweep into the bottom corner which drew them level, before he picked Oscar Bobb out with a stoppage-time pass that most players in the Premier League could only dream of to win the game.
Best cameo since Christopher Walken in Pulp Fiction.
All five goals in Saturdayâs thriller at St Jamesâ Park were so good that it was like both teams were having their own Goal of the Month competition.
But Bobbâs late winner wins our award. The pass from De Bruyne was sublime, the first touch was immaculate, and the 20-year-oldâs composure to stay on his feet and round the goalkeeper was so impressive.
What a way to score your first Premier League goal.
Manchester City are the winners of this award too.
Having gone in front courtesy of an ingenious Bernardo Silva finish, Pep Guardiolaâs side found themselves 2-1 down at half-time thanks to a pair of beautiful strikes from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon respectively.
But City showed why theyâre champions with a stunning De Bruyne-inspired comeback which leaves them two points behind Liverpool, and reminded everyone that the treble winners havenât satiated their appetite for silverware just yet.
Sundayâs clash at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Tottenham lived up to its billing with a thoroughly entertaining 2-2 draw.
Rasmus HĂžjlund opened the scoring after just three minutes with a proper strikerâs finish into the roof of the net, before Richarlison equalised for Spurs with a proper strikerâs header.
United then went back in front, with Marcus Rashford netting his first goal at Old Trafford since May 2023, before Rodrigo Bentancur lashed home to equalise for Spurs again just seconds into the second half.
Ange Postecoglou probably came away the happier of the two managers, but new United investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe will have been impressed by what he saw as well.
De Bruyne might have taken the headlines this weekend, but it was another monstrous midfield performance from Rodri which helped to sustain his personal unbeaten run.
Sundayâs game at Goodison Park wasnât bad as 0-0 draws go, and it meant Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has finally experienced his first Premier League goalless draw.
And the controversial nature of Luton Townâs equaliser at Turf Moor on Friday night shouldnât detract from their impressive fighting spirit.
Itâs safe to say Burnley boss Vincent Kompany was not best pleased with the decision to award Luton that late equaliser against his side.
âFirst, I expect the referee to see it. It was that obvious,â he said post-match.
âNone of the Luton players have celebrated, nobody.
âThe first look from the striker, which is normal â and nothing against him because he is doing his job â but the first look of this striker is to [James] Trafford and then to the referee to see if he got away with it.
âLuckily weâve got VAR, we think âokay, thatâs going to sort it outâ, and then it rolls, it rolls, it rolls, lack of decision and thatâs it, Burnley are 1-1.
âFouls are collisions. What do you think he [Adebayo] is looking at?
âHeâs looking at the keeper, takes two steps back to back into him. What is it? I donât understand.
âIâm absolutely fine if we concede this goal and itâs consistent and this is allowed. If everyone can do it then Iâll tell my strikers to go on and do it, on set-pieces and everything.
âBut remember, weâve just dropped points at Villa after making an unbelievable performance on something that was the softest red card and the softest penalty against us.
âIt just keeps happening.â
