Nicolò Pisilli, Roma midfielder who is playing with the team in the second part of their summer preparations in England from August 2nd to 9th, gave an interview to TeleRadioStereo.
“I always try to do what the coach asks of me based on the role I have to play in midfield,” said Pisilli.
“As I always say, I’m a young player who’s only had one year with the seniors, so I definitely have a lot of things to improve on, so there’s definitely more than one thing I need to improve on. Maybe if I had to say one, it would be maintaining clarity in my decisions with the ball, or let’s say maturing as a player, but I think it’s part of a player’s career process, given that I’m still in my first year with the seniors.”
“All the teammates are very available, let’s say, to help each other and I have to say since the first day that I joined this group everyone gave me advice, helped me and every time someone helps me.”
“I’m enjoying myself. The coach is excellent, I certainly don’t have to say so, and it’s all a bit new, so the team has to be good at, how can I say, capturing as quickly as possible the information he wants to convey to us, the principles he wants to convey to us, but we’re enjoying ourselves, and we’re improving day after day.”
“There are good times, some slightly more negative times, but as I’ve always said, all I can do is always give 100% for this shirt, and that’s what I’ll do. Then there are games that will go better, games that will go worse, but what will never be lacking on my part is commitment and sweat for this shirt.”
“In my opinion, we need to take it game by game, not set ourselves too many goals. Of course, the goal could be to return to the Champions League, but we saw last year how, at the end of a season, there are different moments and different phases. At the start of the year, we looked like we were doomed, but then we finished one point shy of the Champions League. So now, in my opinion, it’s not important to set a fixed goal, but to try to achieve as much as possible every day.”
“Ranieri? The coach gave us so much advice, he was a huge help last year, and to me in particular. I’ve always said, I’ll always be grateful for all the times he stopped to give me advice, to help me improve as a player and as a person. I won’t forget any of his lessons, both on and off the pitch.”
