AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli has described the upcoming Europa League tie against Manchester United as a ‘stimulating’ one against ‘the great favourite of the competition’.
The Rossoneri secured their progression into the final 16 of the competition last night, but it was far from a straight forward evening at San Siro.
Having scored twice in Belgrade last week, the Rossoneri knew that they simply had to avoid defeat or a high-scoring draw against Serbian league leaders Red Star in order to progress, but away goals is exactly what they needed to go through after a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Pioli spoke to ANSA after the draw was made in Nyon this afternoon and provided some quick reaction upon learning the opponent.
“For us it will be a stimulating and motivating match, we face the big favourite of the competition. An opponent and a stadium that recall glorious moments in our history,” he said (via MilanNews).
