AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli praised his side for the effort they showed during the draw against Juventus but bemoaned the clinical edge they were missing in front of goal.

There was a lot of hype surrounding the fixture between Italy’s two biggest and most decorated clubs, but it failed to deliver as it ended 0-0. After the game Pioli spoke to Milan TV about the performance of his team and how important it was to react in a positive way after the Spezia loss, with MilanNews relaying his comments.

On the game: “The goal was missing. The team’s performance was serious, we won a lot of tackles. We missed the last pass, also because of the pitch. It’s a partially positive result because it’s not what we wanted.”

On the reaction after Spezia: “It absolutely was there. We played against a dangerous opponent, but we created many potentially dangerous chances, but we missed the last step.”

On untapped opportunities: “The team does not lack courage, it fails to make the right choice at the right time. Unfortunately with this field, which shouldn’t be an alibi, we always had to make an extra step.”

On the performance: “In some transitions we made a mistake in the final choice, at times we took the ball too much and we were not very lucid. In the second half we didn’t want to lower ourselves, but it is clear that we cannot always go a thousand miles per hour. The defensive phase it was done well. Now let’s think about the next match that will give us a lot of our future.”
