Zlatan Ibrahimovic could decide to retire at the end of the season, not just because of his age but also because Milan might win the Scudetto. It could be the perfect timing for him to say goodbye, in other words.

The Swede has struggled with a lot of injuries this season but he has still been a very important player for Milan, both on and off the pitch. Tomorrow, he could play his final game at San Siro as the Rossoneri will host Atalanta in the penultimate round.

During today’s press conference, which you can read in full here, Stefano Pioli was asked about the future of Ibrahimovic and what he means to the team. He stated that he hopes it’s not the end of the 40-year-old.

Is tomorrow the last dance for Ibra?

“No, I don’t think so. There are two games to go. Last at San Siro? I hope not, he’s a champion with a capital C. I’m not only referring to the technical aspect. I have esteem for him that is immeasurable. I hope it’s not the end, but Zlatan has the intelligence to decide his future.”

It remains to be seen what decision Ibrahimovic will make at the end of the season. Given his injury struggles, and the fact that Milan could clinch the Scudetto, the feeling is that he will say goodbye in the summer.
