AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli has revealed that Ismael Bennacer is back and should be in the squad for tomorrow’s game against Salernitana.

According to what MilanNews reported, the Algerian was not available for the game against Genoa as he was struggling with labyrinthitis. Most people may not have heard of the infection, but the NHS describes it as an inner ear issue that affects someone’s balance. It can cause dizziness or vertigo, which results in the person feeling feeling unsteady and off balance.

Pioli spoke to the media who gathered at Milanello for his pre-match press conference and he gave an update on Milan’s injured players, as well as suggesting an interesting idea for a striker pairing, with his comments transcribed by MilanNews.

“We have recovered Bennacer, he trained today and will therefore be called up. Calabria, Giroud and Rebic are better. Castillejo is the one ahead and will rejoin the group in the next few days,” he said.

Pioli was also asked whether Messias could potentially play as a striker if he needed to, given the clinical nature that he showed during Wednesday night’s 3-0 win over Genoa during which he scored with a header before the break and a first time shot after it.

“I think he and Diaz would be a good attacking couple: they wouldn’t give each other points of reference and they know how to attack depth. It could be a solution.”
