One of the surprise moves of the January transfer window saw former Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leave the Emirates to join Barcelona.
The 32-year-old had been sidelined by Mikel Arteta following a number of disciplinary issues which meant a venture to Spain to spearhead a new era of the Blaugrana under Xavi.
And 23 minutes into their clash with Valencia on Sunday afternoon he found the net for the first time.
Jordi Alba’s perfect diagonal pass set the Gabon international away behind the Valencia defence before he took one touch to set himself and lashed a right-footed effort past Giorgi Mamardashvili at the near post.
Aubameyang then got on to the end of Gavi’s pass to tap home at the back post to double his tally in the 39th minute.
Xavi will be hoping it’s a sign of things to come.
