The goal netted by Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham on Saturday marked a significant one in the race for the Pichichi award.
This comes with the Englishman having closed to within a single goal of top spot.
Bellingham, for his part, was introduced off the bench this evening, in Real Madrid’s meeting with Cádiz.
And it took the 20-year-old less than two minutes to make his impact felt, slotting home a simple finish after being teed up by Brahim Díaz.
This came as Bellingham’s 18th goal of what has proven a remarkable debut campaign in Spain’s top-flight.
And, as alluded to above, it also saw the former Borussia Dortmund standout afford his Pichichi chances a timely boost.
Bellingham, after a lengthy fruitless stretch in front of goal, has now notched in each of his last two La Liga appearances, just one adrift of top scorer Artem Dovbyk as a result.
Ahead of the shootout between Dovbyk’s Girona and Robert Lewandowski’s Barcelona later this evening, the race for the Pichichi crown is very much heating up…
