The physiotherapist employed by Aston Villa striker Wesley believes the Brazilian ace will be back "between two to three months".

The striker's long-time friend and personal trainer Cristiano Dávila has, for the first time, detailed the journey he and Wesley have been on together following his devastating injury at Burnley on January 1.

"The rehabilitation process was a success," Dávila told globo.com. "I can conclude with 100 per cent certainty that it was seven months of hard work, but very rewarding, and the main thing: the objective was achieved."

The physio added: "He was the most expensive signing of the club, scored goals in the Premier League, was summoned to the Brazilian team and, suddenly, suffers an injury of this magnitude; his head is scrambled. It was what we call going from heaven to hell.

"He began to question the reason for everything. It remains, of course, to stress that it is a normal and acceptable situation, given the circumstances he experienced at the time. I have experienced a lot of this in my career working with athletes. But we managed to succeed, and what starts right, ends right, there is no way not to be."
