The Ballon d’Or nominations by France Football are out, and there are two noticeable omissions from the 30 nominees. Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. are some names many are surprised not to see on the list.
Despite having a good season in the assists category, Messi did struggle to find his scoring boots in his first year with the French giants. Meanwhile, Neymar dealt with injuries missing a significant amount of time.

Perhaps this snub could serve as motivation for the two players ahead of the FIFA World Cup in November and possibly secure PSG’s first UEFA Champions League this season
