There was an air of sadness around Celtic Park today as the players wore black armbands and a minute of applause was held in tribute to two Celtic legends and Lisbon Lions – John Clark and John Fallon.

The former was honoured by both the Bhoys and Green Brigade Ultras with unique displays prior the match kicking off. Meanwhile, Fallon was given a touching tribute at half time.

It was then that the North Curve raised a banner depicting the goalkeeper in his playing days, with black flags in the background, and Fallon’s name, birth year and death year listed below.

As well as being a Lisbon Lion, the former Celtic goalkeeper played in the 1965 Scottish Cup triumph – the catalyst for the whirlwind success over the next decade. He also featured in the World Club Championship against Racing Club and played in the memorable 1969 cup final trouncing of Rangers.

After his playing days, Fallon followed Celtic home and away until his tragic passing this year.

He will always be remembered at Paradise.
