Inter failed to get on the scoresheet in yesterday evening’s Serie A match away to Sampdoria, but it certainly was not due to a lack of trying.

The Nerazzurri had the majority of the possession which they used to try and carve out openings, and they peppered the Blucerchiati with shots although it was to no avail as they had to settle for a point as the match finished 0-0.

As football statistics account Opta highlighted after the match, this was only the third time in ten seasons that Inter have taken this many shots in a league fixture without finding the back of the net.

They tweeted, “25 – Inter have fired at least 25 shots without scoring for their third time in a Serie A match in the last 10 seasons, after Inter-Parma on 15 September 2018 (28) and Inter-Sassuolo on 20 February 2022 (29). Curse.”
