Inter Milan beat Roma 1-0 on their return to Serie A from the international break.
It certainly was not an easy win for the Nerazzurri. They lost two players through injury early in the first half – Hakan Calhanoglu and Francesco Acerbi.
It was a tense, physical contest with a number of fouls by both teams slowing down the pace.
Roma keeper Mile Svilar made a number of good saves to keep the score down. And at the other end, Inter relied on a series of excellent stops by Yann Sommer to preserve their clean sheet.
But a second half goal from Inter captain Lautaro Martinez was enough to see Inter take three points back to Milan.
This came after Roma allowed the Nerazzurri a counterattack straight from a corner.
This was Martinez’s fourth goal of the season for Inter, and his third in Serie A.
Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan took to Instagram to celebrate the victory.
