Argentina superstar Lautaro Martinez has equaled the goalscoring record of compatriot Mauro Icardi at Inter Milan.

The Argentine was the scorer of Inter’s opener in a 3-1 Serie A win over Empoli yesterday evening. He found the back of the net with a spectacular long-range striker.

And that was the 111th time that Lautaro Martinez has found the back of the net in Serie A for Inter, the same as Mauro Icardi.

The 27-year-old has been at Inter since the summer of 2018. He has been the Nerazzurri’s captain since the summer of 2023.

And as Opta points out in a tweet, “Lautaro Martínez (111 goals scored) has equalled the 2nd best foreign scorer in Inter’s history in Serie A, Mauro Icardi; only Stefano Nyers has scored more (133). Shot.”
