Phillipe Clement announces major Rangers injury boost

Rangers haven’t had their injury issues to seek this season, or indeed recent ones, with frequent knocks ruling a plethora of players out from action for continuous periods, but Philippe Clement has confirmed an update.

As of Friday 20th September the manager has revealed the best state Rangers’ squad has been in for many, many months, and that only three men are currently unavailable for selection.

Danilo, Ridvan Yilmaz and Rabbi Matondo are the only men out injured, and while technically Ianis Hagi is also unavailable, that’s a difference case, as we know.]

In terms of those the manager would use, the Brazilian, the Turk and the Welshman are the only casualties at present, meaning, for the first time in as long as we can remember, the majority of the players are available for Clement, including many players previously-injured such as Nicolas Raskin.

This puts the club in a much, much healthier position, that the manager can call upon so many resources.

Three goalkeepers in Jack Butland, Liam Kelly and reserve man Lewis Budinauckas.

Three fullbacks in James Tavernier, Robbie Fraser and Jefte.

Four defenders in John Souttar, Leon Balogun, Robin Propper and Neraysho Kasanwirjo.

Five midfielders in Connor Barron, Kieran Dowell, Mohamed Diomande, Dujon Sterling and Nicolas Raskin.

Two playmakers in Tom Lawrence and Nedim Bajrami.

Three wingers in Ross McCausland, Oscar Cortes and Vaclav Cerny.

And two strikers in Cyriel Dessers and new ‘star man’ Hamza Igamane.

22 senior players. 3 more in the injured players, another in Hagi, and then the Auchenhowie graduates like Zak Lovelace.

It’s a solid selection, even if it remains a little thin on the wings and at full back, and might benefit from another striker.

Is it breathtaking?

It is obviously well short of the Walter days, it just doesn’t come close to that, it only has 22 senior players right now, with even 25 being a bit short. Clement wanted more like 30 (aside the younger players) so he doesn’t have that luxury of choice.

But the injuries are at last minimal. So that is something.
