First contacts between Al-Shabab and ex-PSG manager Christophe Galtier began in mid-June, before his exit agreement with the Ligue 1 champions was defined – the Saudi 1st division side have not given up on hiring the double-French 1st division winning coach, as confirmed by Goal France.
Galtier, who was on the shortlists of Napoli and Marseille with both clubs ultimately going in a different direction (Rudi Garcia and Marcelino), is still open to the move and discussions are ongoing between the parties.
Philippe Clement, the Belgian coach fired by AS Monaco in May, has also been in talks with Al-Shabab, but for family reasons is not particularly interested in moving.
Contacts have not ceased between Al Shabab and both Galtier and Clement, as they continue to attempt to find a new manager.
Both individuals are also open to a sabbatical year off also – time will tell. Saudi does not stop with its attempts to acquire foreign player and coaching talent.
