Bournemouth are hoping for a big season in the Championship.

After suffering relegation from the Premier League last term the hope is that they can kick on this time around and secure an immediate return to the top flight.

If they’re to do so then they’ll need to keep hold of their best players.

One player who has been linked with a move away is midfielder Philip Billing, but what is the latest on his future?

We take a look.

What do we know so far?

It’s said that Bournemouth are interested in a move to bring Matt Ritchie back to the Vitality Stadium and could be open to offering the midfielder in exchange.

Funds at St James’ Park are limited right now and so the opportunity to do a swap deal for Ritchie, who has made just eight appearances this term, could be tempting.

Is a move likely to happen this month?

There’s certainly potential for a deal to get done.

The Shields Gazette have claimed that Newcastle would only be open to making loan signings this month due to their financial situation, but the opportunity to trade players could still be appealing.

Given that Matt Ritchie has started just six games in the league there’s a chance that he could be allowed to head back to the South Coast.

Billing would no doubt love the opportunity to play in the Premier League again as soon as possible, and so there’s every chance that this deal could be plausible.

But with both clubs likely to be watching the purse strings this month it probably means that a deal will hinge on the finances involved in the swap deal reported.
