Eyebrows were raised when Phil Jones was named in the starting line-up against Barcelona on Tuesday, and the Manchester United man did little to silence his critics.

For reasons which are not yet clear, Jones was wearing a bandage on his head before the game had even kicked off, and Lionel Messi gave him an absolutely torrid time in the first half at Camp Nou.
