The speedster wasn’t able to have the impact he might’ve liked in the final third, but linked up well with the attackers in glimpses. Covered his flank effectively and got forward when possible.

The Argentine veteran had a comfortable ninety minutes in the heart of defence tonight as the Burnley front-line never looked like it was going to cause any problems. Positioned himself well.

Fernandinho – 7

The Brazilian was completely solid at the back as usual, as he commandeered the defence line efficiently. Didn’t give the Burnley attackers any second balls to feed off and was first to everything.

Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7

The Ukrainian was deployed in the inverted full-back role tonight, which meant he spent a lot of time in the middle of the park. The link-up play was fluid, and he delivered a couple of good crosses too.

David Silva – 7.5

The veteran was undoubtedly City’s midfield commander on the night, as he moved the ball around with confidence to create spaces in between the deep-lying Burnley lines. Scored a goal as well.

Rodri – 6.5

The Spaniard helped Guardiola’s side maintain control of the midfield area with his physical presence and heading ability. Fluent with his passing and displayed good vision in possession.

Bernardo Silva – 8

The versatile winger started the game positioned as one of the midfielders but was soon seen popping up in all kinds of dangerous positions. Picked up two assists and oozed confidence on the ball.

Phil Foden – 9

The youngster was Manchester City’s best player on the night by a country mile. Showed dazzling finesse with his forward passing and movement, and stepped up with two delectable goals as well.

Sergio Aguero – 6

The Argentine forward tried to influence the first-half but generally struggled to make things happen in the Burnley box. Picked up an injury just before half-time and was subbed off.

Riyad Mahrez – 7.5

The trickster changed the complexion of the entire fixture in a matter of two minutes before half-time. Brilliant dribble through the Burnley defence for the first, and put away a penalty for the second.

The Brazilian tried to make something happen in the final third of the pitch and ended up finishing the night with an assist to his name for Foden’s goal. Some good touches in and around the Burnley box.

The Belgian added some energy and directness in the middle of the park as the Burnley midfield line began to show signs of fatigue. Created a couple of good opportunities which were wasted by teammates.

Aymeric Laporte – 6

The centre-half didn’t have too much to do after coming on but played some excellent passes out from the back. Wasn’t really called into action by the Burnley attack in the last half an hour of the tie.
