Manchester City’s Phil Foden has revealed all behind his new goal celebration after hitting a hat-trick against Brentford on Monday night.

The England international scored goals either side of the half-time interval in west London this week to ensure Manchester City would come from behind to claim all three points in the Premier League and make ground on Liverpool.

City move to within just two points of their Merseyside title challengers at the top of the division, whilst also retaining a game in hand upcoming in the next fortnight that could lift them into top spot should they maintain their ongoing winning run of form.

Monday night also saw the unveiling of a brand new goal celebration from Manchester City’s star Academy graduate in Phil Foden, as he scored his second hat-trick for the club following on from his Treble of goals against Manchester United last season.

Speaking to Manchester City’s official media channels, Phil Foden has revealed that his new ‘Sniper’ celebration has emerged as a result of ‘banter’ with his Etihad Stadium teammates due to the number of shots taken in small-sided training matches.

“It’s a bit of banter I have with the lads, they say I shoot a lot in the five-a-side games, they call me ‘The Sniper'”, Foden revealed.

“So I thought I had to pull it out today, even when I arrived at the training ground and there’s a sniper on my locker now.”

Foden is in exemplary goalscoring form this season, whilst his contributions in goalscoring situations for Manchester City as a whole across the campaign has seen a significant uplift from previous seasons.

Phil Foden is currently third in Manchester City’s top-scorer charts for the ongoing campaign having netted on 14 occassions, while his nine assists makes him the joint-leading assist provider alongside Julian Alvarez.

Given the struggles of relegation-threatened Everton this season, their upcoming match against Sean Dyche’s men on Saturday lunchtime could provide Phil Foden with yet another golden opportunity to add to his already-impressive tallies.
