Peterborough United have seen an offer for Portsmouth and Ipswich Town target Chris Conn-Clarke turned down, according to the Daily Mail.

Conn-Clarke was in sensational form in the National League for Altrincham and scored 23 goals, firing the side into the playoffs.

After missing out on promotion the odds are against Altrincham managing to keep hold of Conn-Clarke and he has serious interest.

Portsmouth, newly promoted to the Championship and Ipswich, newly promoted to the Premier League, have both been credited with interest in the attack-minded midfielder.

However, it is Peterborough who have made the first move by slapping in a bid for the Altrincham man.

The National League side have turned down the offer, believing it does not match up with their valuation of the player.

The onus will now be on Posh to go back with a fresh proposal, but their bid may spark Portsmouth and Ipswich into life in the race.

Conn-Clarke represented Northern Ireland at youth level and spent time at Burnley earlier in his career.

He joined Altrincham on loan from Fleetwood Town before eventually completing a permanent move to the club last summer.

Conn-Clarke also has interest from Scotland.
