The sensational Welshman joined Manchester United as the least high-profile signing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s three transfers yet has surprised many by his brilliant performances.

Joining from Swansea, not a lot was expected from James yet he’s quickly established himself as a crucial part of a devastating front three.

Reports had previously emerged of Solskjaer’s surprise at how quickly the pacy winger adjusted to life at Old Trafford as he was expecting it to take a season or two.

Schmeichel though, didn’t focus on Maguire or Wan-Bissaka and instead lauded James who has notched up three goals and four assists in the Premier League this season.

Solskjaer has himself been heavily impressed by James, even labelling him as the best defensive winger in the world for his incredible work-rate, stamina and defensive cover.

The 22 year old consistently pressures his opponents and helps his own full-back, who is normally Wan-Bissaka, whilst still managing to be a threat on the other end of the field.

Signed for an estimated £15m, James is in contention for being the bargain signing of the Premier League this season.
