Former Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz has been appointed by Bayer Leverkusen.
The club confirmed the move on Sunday, as they announced Heiko Herrlich has been relieved of his duties.
Leverkusen beat Hertha BSC 3-1 on Saturday in the final game before the winter break.
However, they have now let Herrlich go with the club ninth in the Bundesliga and seven points adrift of the Champions League spots.
Bosz will take over the side in January.
Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has backed Bosz, haling his ability to deliver “fast-paced, offensive, exciting football”.
Rolfes also highlighted Bosz’s ability to develop young players as one of the reasons the club have targeted him
Former Ajax head coach Bosz was in charge of Borussia Dortmund last season but only lasted until December and has been out of work since then.
The Dutchman led Ajax to the 2017 Europa League final, where they lost to Manchester United.
