Former Ajax manager Peter Bosz fears that Saturday’s 13-0 victory at VVV-Venlo paints the Eredivisie in a negative light.
The Amsterdam outfit were already 4-0 up when the hosts lost Christian Kum to a red card.
That’s when the floodgates opened, as league leaders Ajax went to town.
Lassina Traoré, in particular, had a field day.
The 19-year-old attacker scored five goals and provided three assists as they beat the previous biggest league win record that the Ajax team of 1972 had set by hammering Vitesse 12-1 in 1972.
Bosz, who is now in charge of Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen, told reporters: “I have no explanation for such a result, even though VVV played with ten men after the red card.
“I think this is bad for the image of Dutch football. Everyone is talking about this match.”
Ajax are level on points with Vitesse, but obviously now have a far superior goal difference.
