Sebastian Kristensen is delighted to have won a first pro deal with Everton.

The Danish defender, 17, has signed a two-year contract - which represents a personal triumph for the teen.

Former Lyngby defender Kristensen had previously agreed to sign with the Toffees over 18 months ago, but was only able to kickoff his English career for Everton this past season.

The versatile defender was forced to undergo brain surgery last year after a head collision while playing for Lyngby's youth team in 2018.

But he is now fully recovered and happy on Merseyside after delaying the move for six months as he recovered from the operation. And his form has been rewarded with a two-year pro contract.

"I am pleased," Kristensen told bold.dk. "It was the club itself that wanted to give me a professional contract, and it felt right.

"I have had a reasonably good start in the club, and now I want to see how far I can drive this.

"The club told me that they thought I had done well in the beginning."

Kristensen added: "So it is a sign from the club that they are happy for me so far, and it is super positive for me to know. It gives some peace of mind that my future is in place, so now you can stay focused on football."

Kristensen managed to play two matches for the U18 team before football in England was canceled in March due to the coronavirus. The U18 competition is now expected to start again on September 12, when the senior Premier League also kicks off.
