Vitor Pereira has opened up on his desire to embrace the culture of the fans at Wolves.
Pereira has recently attended local pubs following Wolves fixtures to celebrate results alongside the fanbase.
The Portuguese coach has had a huge impact at Wolves, who have won six consecutive Premier League games heading into tonight’s clash with Manchester City at the Etihad.
Wolves were 19th in the table when Pereira was appointed in December, but have risen to 13th in the table. Only Liverpool and Newcastle have won more league games across that period than Wolves, who now sit 20 points clear of the relegation places.
Pereira’s popularity has only increased with his desire to form a bond with the Wolves fans. The 56-year-old has opened up on his decision to drink and mingle with the club’s supporters in celebration of wins. He said he wants to foster a connection with the club and its community.
“In Wolverhampton, where do you want me to go? I must go to a pub, because this is the culture and where people go,” he told the BBC.
“When I go to a pub it’s not about the beer. Of course I like the beer but I go to be with the people, to feel that I’m doing something to make them happy, to make them proud.
“Work, home, then we go to a pub just for a beer or two beers and finish. This is our life.”
