Pep Guardiola denies existence of Real Madrid clause in Erling Haaland's contract | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola says rumours stating Erling Haaland has a release clause in his contract that would allow him to join Real Madrid in 2024 aren't true.

Manchester City managed to sign Haaland in the summer despite the fact that the Spanish giants were also heavily interested in the forward's services.

After Real Madrid missed out though, former player Fernando Sanz claimed a clause had been included in the striker's contract that would allow him to join Los Blancos at the end of the 2023/24 season.

What's more, father Alf-Inge recently said he believed his son wanted to play in every major European league, including La Liga.

“I think Erling wants to test out his capabilities in every league," he said in Viaplay's new documentary, . "Then he can stay in every league for three to four years maximum.

“He could have two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half in England, and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?

“We do not know if it will be like that, but I think he would like to test his abilities in the big leagues.”

However, when asked about such a clause, said that there isn't one.

"It's not true, he has no release clause for Real Madrid or any other team," he said after Man City's 5-0 over Kobenhavn, in which Haaland got two goals.

"It's not true, what can I say? I have the feeling he is incredibly happy here. We will try with him and the others to make him happy."
