Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Jack Grealish will not be fit for Sunday’s Manchester derby and is sidelined for the foreseeable future.

Grealish had to be substituted after sustaining an injury during the mid-week FA Cup victory over Luton Town, which was actually the England winger’s comeback from an injury which had previously sidelined him for a number of weeks.

And Guardiola has now confirmed another setback for the 28-year-old.

“He will not be fit this weekend. When he comes back, I don’t know,” Guardiola told reporters.

“Setbacks are always there in life, he will overcome it.”

The City boss added that he doesn’t expect Grealish to be fit in time to be called up by England for the upcoming international friendlies with Brazil and Belgium.

The good news from City’s perspective is that there were no other injury issues reported by Guardiola ahead of Sunday’s visit of rivals United to the Etihad Stadium.
