Manchester City assistant coach Rodolfo Borrell has officially made his move to Major League Soccer, joining Austin FC as the club’s new Sporting Director.

Borrell joined City in 2014 as the club’s Global Sporting Director, but his path eventually took him towards a seat on the bench with Pep Guardiola, where he helped win 14 major trophies over seven seasons.

Austin currently find themselves in 8th place in the Western Conference, just shy of the automatic qualification places for the MLS Cup Playoffs.

“The manager has often spoken about how important his coaching staff have been in helping him and the team achieve what we have,” Manchester City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain said. “Rodolfo has, of course, been a major part of that during his time at Manchester City.

“I have every confidence that he will be a huge asset to both Austin FC and United States soccer.”
