Lorenzo Pellegrini is working to be able to return to the field in September.
The Roma captain wants to convince Gian Piero Gasperini that he is still an important player.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Pellegrini is starting to see the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’ with respect to his rehabilitation from the injury that ended his season in mid-May.
After a check-up scheduled for next week, Pellegrini will show up at Trigoria on July 13 for the start of the summer preseason preparations with the team.
Pellegrini’s aim is to convince coach Gian Piero Gasperini that he is a player who can still give a lot to Roma. The role he will play will be his favourite: attacking midfielder, where he will be able to show off his technical qualities the most.
It should also not be forgotten that his contract is set to expire in June 2026: the aim would be to try to extend it.
At that point Pellegrini will find himself at a crossroads: end his Giallorossi experience in a year or convince both the coach and the club to trust him for at least another season.
