Pedulla offers verdict on Milan’s Buongiorno attempts: “Never materialised”

AC Milan will add a central defender to their ranks, and possibly there will be two arriving in the summer mercato, and a player they have been heavily linked with is Alessandro Buongiorno, but Alfredo Pedulla has suggested that the Rossoneri’s chances are slim.

There is a very healthy budget for Milan to play with this summer, but they must be financially smart, and whether Buongiorno offers the right value remains unknown. In January, offers were made, and an offer was made to the player, but Urbano Cairo refused to allow a deal in the middle of the season.

For months, it has seemed that the Rossoneri would then make a move now, in the summer, but it seems this will be difficult to do, given Cairo has raised the price further than what it was in January.

Of course, with the Diavolo having no players representing the Italian National Team at the European Championship, there is a desire for natives to be added, but spending money on ready-made players with rising prices is entering questionable territory.

Speaking on his YouTube channel (via Radio Rossonera), Pedulla took stock of the situation and offered a worrying verdict, at least from a Milan perspective.

“He was worth €40 million before the European Championship, as far as I know, he wants to go to Napoli. It’s useless to make the speeches about Cairo and the captain’s armband…his will is clear, if Cairo wants to keep him unwillingly it means he will have a captain who will have to regain enthusiasm.

“But compared to what happened in January with Atalanta, he wants to go to Napoli. Milan never materialised. On his current price, the European effect isn’t there because he hasn’t played, so not a comma has changed.”
