AC Milan are facing crucial negotiations over the renewal of two players who they hope will remain and become pillars of the project for the future, a report claims.

Alfredo Pedulla’s latest for La Gazzetta dello Sport recalls how Milan have had complicated summers after they lost Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu on free transfers in 2021 then Franck Kessie and Alessio Romagnoli this year.

Now the viewfinder is on 2024 – so in less than two years – not only because that’s when Serie A MVP Rafael Leao will see his deal end but also Ismael Bennacer, who shares the same deadline as the Portuguese winger.

Liverpool’s interest in the Algerian has not turned into a real negotiation yet, but the request for €4m net per season (plus any bonuses) from Bennacer and his entourage absolutely within the limits imposed by the ownership, so there is ‘moderate confidence’.

Pierre Kalulu’s request for a pay rise is also mentioned, but he has another three years of contract left so there is not the same urgency at present.
