The striker has been struggling with an abductor issue since returning early from international duty with Brazil.

His condition has caused a row between club and country. The CBF said the Pedro’s injury was “minor”, but the Flamengo medical staff claim it was a Grade 2 strain.

He seems to be on the mend, however, with Gazeta Esportiva reporting that the 23-year-old has trained with team-mates and will be available for selection.

Manager Rogério Ceni is still sweating on the availability of Rodrigo Caio.

The centre-back has not featured for the Rubro-Negro in over two months after picking up a knee injury while playing for Brazil in the October internationals.

But he also participated in team training and is expected to be named on the teamsheet in midweek.

There has been no update on striker Gabriel Barbosa.

Flamengo have made it clear that Gabigol will not be considered unless he shows 100% recovery from the “muscular imbalance” that forced his substitution in the first leg at the Estadio Presidente Perón.
