As Spain prepare to take on France in the UEFA Nations League semi-final, Barcelona midfielder Pedri faced the media and shared some honest thoughts about both his national team and his club.
Calm, focused, and always humble, the young star gave a glimpse into his mindset ahead of a big clash, where much more than bragging rights are on the line.
Pedri, who continues to grow as one of Europe’s top midfielders, touched on various topics, from individual honours to transfer rumours and, of course, his love for Barcelona.
Pedri was asked about individual awards like the Ballon d’Or and how they influence him. His reply was modest but clear.
“I don’t pay too much attention to personal awards,” he said. “But since Rodri won the Ballon d’Or, it feels like there’s been a bit of a shift.
“Before, it was always about the forwards, but now people are recognising the work midfielders do, especially when they win big titles with their national teams.”

When asked if he had a favourite for the Ballon d’Or this year, Pedri kept his answer simple, stating,
“We’ve got a final coming up. That’s the priority. I’m proud to be mentioned in the same conversation, but I’ll keep my vote to myself until the competition ends.”
Facing France means one thing, coming up against Kylian Mbappe. Pedri, though not a defender, knows what kind of danger the French forward brings.
“When you talk about someone like Kylian, you know it’s not easy. He’s got top quality. I’ve been lucky enough to face him before, and we’ve done well as a team, but stopping him tomorrow will be another big task. He’s one of the best in the world for a reason.”
Another question that caught attention was about Bayern Munich’s interest in him. Pedri didn’t deny it.
“Yes, they were interested,” he confirmed. “But for me, Barcelona is everything. It’s my dream club. I never really thought about leaving because my love for the team is that strong.”
