Pedri reveals EURO banter with Dani Olmo: “We knew we could play together” | OneFootball

Barcelona midfielder Pedri recently shared his thoughts on the speculation surrounding his ability to play alongside Dani Olmo during the EURO.

There were widespread opinions suggesting that the two couldn’t function effectively on the pitch together, with many questioning who would take the starting role.

However, Pedri revealed that these doubts only served as a source of amusement for him and Olmo.

According to Pedri, instead of letting the opinions create tension between them, they laughed off the idea that they couldn’t play together. The pair joked about the situation, humorously agreeing with the critics by saying,

“At the EURO, Dani Olmo and I laughed because we heard opinions that we couldn’t play together, that who was going to be a starter,” Pedri told El Mundo.

“We knew we could and, besides, we get along very well and we understand each other on the pitch.”

Pedri didn’t let critics affect him

The Barcelona midfielder emphasised that both he and Olmo were confident in their ability to play together from the start. They shared a mutual understanding and respect for each other’s skills, which translated seamlessly onto the pitch.

“They said that Dani Olmo and I couldn’t play together. If they tried to confront us, they didn’t succeed because we joked about it, saying ‘no, we can’t play together. I’m sorry.’

“We knew that maybe after the summer we would get together and it was perfect.”

In essence, Pedri and Olmo turned what could have been a divisive issue into a joke, further solidifying their partnership on the pitch.

Their experience at the EURO proved that not only could they play together, but they could also do so with a deep sense of camaraderie and mutual understanding.
