PEC Zwolle host Ajax on Sunday in desperate need of three points. The club are currently winless in their last six, which includes a 7-1 dismantling by PSV as well as a draw against lowly FC Volendam. Last time out they were beaten 3-1 away from home by Fortuna Sittard.
Worryingly for fans of the club, the side have the third worst home record in the league. Of their 13 home matches they have only won three, drawing another three and losing seven. They have only scored 12 goals at home, conceding 24. Bizarrely, it is their away from that is keeping them out of relegation trouble. The side have the sixth best away record in the league, with four wins, four draws and five defeats away from home. They have also scored 10 more goals away from Zwolle. They will certainly be hoping that striker Lennart Thy can add to his 10 Eredivisie goals this season at the weekend.
Ajax, on the other hand, have had a poor season. Last time out they drew 2-2 with Sparta Rotterdam, having to come back from 2-0 down. In their last five they only have one win, a 2-0 victory over FC Utrecht. Following this has been a draw with Aston Villa, a draw with Fortuna Sittard and then a defeat to Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League. The side are also looking over their shoulder, with a host of sides chasing a top eight finish hot on their heels. They will be without suspended Ahmetcan Kaplan this weekend, with Brian Brobbey, Jordan Henderson, Josip Sutalo and Steven Berghuis all potentially out with injuries.
Last time out the sides drew 2-2 in Amsterdam. Brobbey gave the home side a 2-0 lead before Thy scored twice, with his second coming in the 89th minute to rescue a draw for Zwolle.
