“Dybala at the centre of Roma,” wrote the headline in Monday morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, and the weekend’s game with Inter, it’s looking difficult to argue with that.

After having had talks with Inter over the summer, the Argentinian forward opted to join José Mourinho in Italy’s capital, and he made the Nerazzurri pay for that decision on Saturday as his volley put his side level before Chris Smalling went on to score the winner.

Mourinho was serving a one-match touchline ban, and watched the action unfold from the relative comfort of the team bus – of course all documented and posted on social media – as he saw his side move to just four points behind league leaders Napoli.

Expectations are high in Rome after winning the Conference League last season, and Roma legend Daniele De Rossi spoke about the ‘Mourinho effect’ at the club.

“I don’t think that you realise what he’s been able to accomplish in addition to winning a trophy,” De Rosssi told Rai 2. “The stadium is always full, over 60,000 fans attending every single game, both on good days and bad days, both with top teams and smaller sides. I doubt it’s a coincidence.”

“Mourinho has reunited all Roma supporters, and this has to be valued above and beyond any gameplan or formation.”

On the other hand, the defeat plunged Inter boss Simone Inzaghi into further trouble, the Nerazzurri having won only four from their opening eight matches in Serie A this season.

Inter face Barcelona in the Champions League in midweek, but the club are expected to hang on to the boss regardless of the result at San Siro.

Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio really turned on the style in a 4-0 win over Spezia.

After a winless September, Max Allegri eased the pressure on his job at Juventus with a 3-0 victory at home to Bologna.

A crazy finish to Milan’s trip to Empoli saw the home side score what looked to be a last-gasp equaliser, only for the Rossoneri to bag two more before the final whistle blew.

Paulo Dybala was given a stunning reception by Roma’s fans when he signed for the club following seven seasons at Juventus, and that faith is paying off.

The man nicknamed La Joya – the jewel – fired in a superb volley after his side had gone behind at San Siro, levelling up the scores in some style.

Sergej Milinković-Savić is in top form at Lazio under Maurizio Sarri, and the Serbia international really put on a show versus Spezia at the weekend.

Not only did the midfielder contribute two goals to the 4-0 win, but displayed his impressive work-rate by winning all of his take-on attempts, making 75 total passes, winning the ball back an incredible eight times during the 90 minutes and even hit the woodwork.
