Paulinho was bought for €40m last summer and scored nine LaLiga goals as the team went on to win the title.

According to reports in Spain, Paulinho has almost doubled his wages from €8.5m-a-year to €15m-a-year deal.

Initially joining his former club on loan, the deal is expected to be made permanent next year.

“The level of the Chinese Super League has improved year by year and the development is very good,” Paulinho said.

“After training in Evergrande and Barcelona, and following the Brazilian national team in the World Cup, I’ve had a good experience.

“I chose to return to the Super League this time, hoping to bring more championships to Guangzhou and Guangzhou fans. I also hope to bring more excitement to the Super League!”

Paulinho spent two seasons in Evergrande during his first spell in China.

Guangzhou, currently managed by Luiz Felipe Scolari, are currently fifth in the Chinese Super League having won the title in each of the past seven seasons.
