Derby County boss Paul Warne has said that he fancies his side against anyone else in League One – home or away.

That was his bullish claim ahead of the Rams’ Tuesday night fixture versus Lincoln City at Pride Park.

Talking to Derby’s club media ahead of the match, Warne was questioned on how he can keep the club’s fantastic home form of late up.

“We just try and keep the same processes right so we try and keep the same things which have got a success over recent months.” Warne told Derby County club media.

“We try and keep sincere and honest with the lads, we we try and show them the opposition however it’s the lads who walk over the white line.

“I can’t guarantee any fan watching this that we’re going to turn up and be great we could be absolutely honking, I don’t know.

“All I do know is that hopefully the lads give everything they can give and when we need to make changes we will.

“But, you know, I fancy us against any team in this league home or away so, we have been good at home however it’s a completely new game.

“What’s gone before has gone before, we have to compete against a good Lincoln team that have won two on the spin, who want to play, who will enjoy playing on our pitch and as all teams do when they come here, want to spoil our home form so we have to be at our very best.”

The Rams sit 5th in League One heading into tonight’s fixture, whilst Lincoln sit 13th.

A win this evening could see the Rams go third if results elsewhere go their way.

The Verdict

Given how Derby have been playing recently, too, in a one off match you can see why he feels that way.

The club have capitalised on Ipswich’s misfortunes of late to close the gap to third in the table and will now be hoping either Plymouth or Sheffield Wednesday begin to falter.

One thing you will say is that the promotion race down in League One is looking really exciting, be it the automatics or the play-offs.
